JASNC Japanese Cultural
Outreach Program
The Japan America Society of North Carolina is pleased to announce registration for local homeschoolers for March 2025. Please complete the below registration form. All classes are free and you can sign your child up for a maximum of 2 classes. Materials will be provided. (Required fields will have an asterisk.) Maximum number of students per class is 20. Program intended for first graders and up.
(Registration deadline is Feb. 14, 2025.)
1) Hina Doll Making
Join us to learn how to make traditional Hina Dolls using plastic toy eggs and origami paper. You can take your creation home.
(Thursday, 3/6 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am)
2) Onigiri
We will show you how to cook/make a traditional Japanese staple called onigiri, or rice balls. With permission, children may eat their onigiri at class. Gluten-free.
(Thursday, 3/6 @ 11 am - 12 noon)
3) Origami
This Japanese art form takes a simple piece of paper and turns it into a piece of art. You can take your creation home.
(Thursday, 3/6 @ 1:30 pm - 2:30 pm)
4) Calligraphy
You don't need to know how to write Japanese to participate in this program. We will show you how to write the characters and you can take your creation home.
